The color specialists at Pantone, a subsidiary of color-science group X-Rite Inc., have announced that “marsala,” a reddish brown, will be the color of the year in 2015.
Pantone’s Color of the Year 2015
A UNIFYING ELEMENT
The impactful, full-bodied qualities of Marsala make for an elegant, grounded statement color when used on its own or as a strong accent to many other colors.
A Hearty Yet Stylish Tone
Add elegance to any room by incorporating this rich and welcoming hue in accent pieces, accessories and paint. Marsala’s plush characteristics are enhanced when the color is applied to textured surfaces, making it an ideal choice for rugs and upholstered living room furniture.
The Pantone Color Institute, Pantone’s color advisory group, predicts each year’s most popular colors in fashion, decor, and graphic design. The annual announcement helps retailers and designers determine what will be popular in the year ahead, and consumers “gobble up” the trending products, according to the Journal. The specialists choose each year’s color based on polls of designers and “creative types.”
